Night jalsas are the lifeline of Sunni dawah in Karnataka: after a day’s labour, thousands gather to hear the seerah, the virtues of the Awliya, and the call to prayer, halal earnings and love of the Prophet (peace be upon him). These gatherings keep the chain of spiritual knowledge unbroken from Baghdad to Bidar, Gulbarga to Bangalore.
